Kansas FBI Investigation

On December 21, 2022 the KBI released an update on work of the task force that has been investigating allegations of clergy misconduct since February 2019.

“The investigation is ongoing,” the KBI statement said. “The task force expects the investigation to be lengthy.”

  1. Fr. Marie-Dominique Philippe, the sexually abusive founder of The Brothers of Saint John (source), was with Marcel Lefebvre at the foundation of SSPX (source). Fr. Marie-Dominique Philippe advised Marcel Lefebvre about setting up the SSPX Econe seminary & Michel-Louis Guérard des Lauriers was an early professor at the Econe seminary. This is too close of an association to ignore.
    • His brother, Thomas Philippe, also abused numerous women. A major report (link) was released on January 30, 2023 detailing his crimes: "Control and Abuse Investigation on Thomas Philippe, Jean Vanier and L’Arche (1950-2019)"

  2. Fr. Frédéric Abbet (SSPX priest ordained 2004) (source) and (source) was convicted in Brussels in 2017 of child sexual abuse. He was arrested again in 2020. From the case: "The entire file has shown heavy dysfunction within the Society of St. Pius X." The most damning indictment came against SSPX priest Fr. Benoît Wailliez, then-prior of the SSPX chapel where Abbet lived — under the same roof as the SSPX school. Taped audio recordings from six years prior were produced in court, with Wailliez called as witness, revealing that Wailliez had been made aware of Abbet's predilection for boys at the time, but failed to take any steps to keep him away from children. Fr. Frédéric Abbet, SSPX, who was moved to a Belgian priory under the same roof as a boy's school by Bp. Bernard Fellay, the then-superior general of the SPPX, only two months after an SSPX canonical court had imposed a 10-year-ban on Abbet from being around children based on his prior abuse of boys; Abbet proceeded to abuse more boys at the Belgian school.
  3. Fr. Patrick Groche, superior of the Gabonese mission, has been accused of sexual abuse of boys. He was a longtime collaborator with SSPX founder Abp. Marcel Lefebvre.

  4. Fr. Carl Pulvermacher, one of the founders of traditionalist Catholicism in America in the 1970s, was accused (link) in 2018 of sexual abuse of a minor. Fr. Pulvermacher started The Angelus (Angelus Press), co-founded the SSPX in the US, and founded many of the SSPX chapels around the country.
  5. In November 2022, Fr. Matthew Stafki was accused (link) of sexually abusing his 9-year-old niece. Fr. Stafki comes from a well-known SSPX family, and another one of his brothers is also an SSPX priest.
  6. Fr. Philippe Peignot, SSPX, was put in charge of boy scouts by the SSPX and molested them (source), after a long career as a sexual abuser, which was known to his superiors. Peignot had abused five boys between 1985 and 1987, his most famous victim being Vincent Lambert, the quadriplegic later becoming a symbol of the end-of-life debate.
  7. Fr. Pierre de Maillard, SSPX, was convicted (source) and sentenced to 20 years in prison for 33 sexual assaults against 27 children over the course of 25 years. The crimes took place in his SSPX assignments in the Vendée and elsewhere."
  8. In November 2023, Brother Vincent Mary Rustila in Whanganui, NZ was accused of abuse.
  9. Father Guillaume d'Orsanne was charged (source) by a former student in 2017 with sexual abuse of a minor.
  10. Fr. Damien Carlile, an Australian priest, has been accused (source) of sexual abuse of boys. Fr. Carlile got his early start in the 1990s at the SSPX mission in Gabon, Africa. He was a priest in Gabon from 1991-2000, for abusing kids during vacation outings.
  11. Fr. Pierre Duverger has been accussed (link) of sexual abuse and grooming of young women. Victim Jassy Jacas reported the abuse to multiple priests and they all covered it up rather than reporting the abuse to police.
  12. Guillaume Aguilar, an SSPX school teacher, was sentenced (source) to the maximum time of seven years in prison on Dec. 17, in addition to time he is already serving for other crimes against children. He will afterwards be on monitored probation for a period of 10 years, and is required to pay between 4,000 and 10,000 euros to each victim.
  13. Fr. Carlos Urrutigoity, former SSPX priest & founder of the Society of St. John (SSJ), has been accused of sexual abuse (source).
  14. Fr. Eric Ensey, former SSPX priest who joined Society of St. John (SSJ) with Fr. Carlos Urrutigoity, molested boys (source). “In the fall of 2000, John Doe joined the Society of St. John as a postulant. In order to avoid Ensey’s continued sexual advances, the young man sought out alternative sleeping quarters. Fr. Urrutigoity told him that all the guest rooms were filled, but he could sleep in his room. Doe accepted. A few nights later Urrutigoity also began to sexually molest the young man.
  15. Fr. Ramon Angles anally raped 14-year-old Michael Gonzalez (source), leading to Gonzalez committing suicide.
  16. Fr. Uribe Silviano Bernabe was convicted (source) and imprisoned in 2013 for sexually assaulting a girl and an adult woman.
  17. Fr. Douglas Laudenschlager was the first priest ordained by Marcel Lefebvre. He'd left the priesthood in the 1980s. He sexually abused multiple boys in Post Falls, Idaho in the 1980s.
  18. Fr. Kenneth Novak has been accused of sexual abuse. Lori Ann Gerald Kleinsmith, is associated with Fr. Kenneth Novak, seducing wives and grooming children.
  19. Fr. Kopec has been accused of grooming children through texting.
  20. Fr. Laurent Desataurd has been accused of sexual abuse. The SSPX learned of three allegations against Fr. Desautard of inappropriate contact with boarding students at St. Mary's Academy (Saint Marys, Kansas) while he was stationed there. Fr. Desautard allegedly engaged in grooming behavior with teenage boys in his dormitory office.
  21. Fr. Benedict van der Putten, former SSPX priest, abused Victoria McQuade.
  22. Fr. Christophe Roisnel has been accused of sexual abuse (source). Fr. Roisnel tortured a woman with knitting needles and scissors and was protected by Bp. Fellay
  23. Fr. S (name unknown) (source) joined the SSPX Resistance under Bishop Williamson. He was accused of sexual abuse. Father S., a British priest, who was accused (source) in 2006 of sexual abuse in France, and then moved to the United Kingdom by his superiors in the Society of Saint Pius X. When contacted by the Swedish TV station Bishop Fellay insisted he had reported the facts of the case to the criminal court authorities at Mulhouse in eastern France, though he did not provide documentation to the Swedish journalists.
  24. Fr. P (name unknown) (source) joined the SSPX Resistance under Bishop Williamson. He was accused of sexual abuse.
  25. Father M (name unknown), a French priest (source) brought back from Australia for “immature” behaviour with children, in the words of the society’s hierarchy itself. Contacted by telephone, Father M. confirmed that he had been at Montgardin “from 2013 to 2015”. This was several years after those in charge at the society, aware of his behaviour towards children, had moved the priest from Australia to Ireland, then to France once more. “We go where our superiors tell us to go. You know, that’s how the Society works,” said Father M.
  26. A Swedish television program, Uppdrag Granskning, reported (source) that four different clerics of the SSPX—three priests (Fr. S, Fr. P, Fr. M noted above) and a former semiarian—had molested at least a dozen young people in several different countries. The evidence of abuse was kept secret by the SSPX, the program charged, and the priests were allowed to continue in ministry.

  1. Kevin Gerard Sloniker, 31, pleaded guilty in 2016 (source) to molesting seven boys between the ages of 8 and 14 over the course of a decade. He met many of the boys and their families through Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls.
    • Kevin's brother Paul A. Sloniker has also been convicted (link) of sexual abuse of a child. Paul pleaded guilty to first-degree child molestation in June 2022 in exchange for prosecutors dropping nine other child sex charges against him. Spokane County Superior Court Judge Annette Plese handed down the prison sentence Friday: 5 1/2 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor for three years.
    • The Sloniker brothers were both molested as children (they were homeschooled in Latah—a town 35 miles south of Spokane, WA), continuing the cycle of abuse. "A childhood victim of sexual abuse himself, it is clear that Mr. Sloniker failed to resolve his trauma and further perpetuated the abuse cycle upon (the victim) over the course of at least three years," the state agency said in the investigation.
  2. Douglas Gerard Kleinsmith was sentenced (source) to 5 years in prison in 2017 sexually abusing a teenager who was an altar boy at a St. Cloud church. Kleinsmith previously was convicted in Idaho in 1991 of sexually abusing a child younger than 16. Douglas was raised in a large SSPX family. His brother David Kleinsmith was headmaster/photographer of St. Marys Academy, St. Marys Kansas & associated with Fr. Ramon Angeles and sought for questioning by KBI, currently at Maple Hill, KS. His sister, Lori Ann Gerald Kleinsmith, is associated with Fr. Kenneth Novak, seducing wives and grooming children.
  3. Peter Palmeri (source), SSPX parishioner in Saint Marys, Kansas, has been jailed for sexually abusing and raping his children.
  4. Dean Johnson (source), arrested this year on child sex charges
  5. Ryan Vigil (source), arrested and convicted for sex crimes, including raping his wife's teen sister
  6. Maryck Gerard Linn (source), arrested for indecent liberties and rape of an unconcious minor, now serving 10 years in prison.
  7. Luciano Maradona (source), convicted and sentenced to 10 years for child sex crimes, in particular raping his daughter, which resulted in a medical emergency
  8. Lee James Gauvin (source), arrested for child sex crimes, including molesting his daughters
  9. Mr. James Simmerman has been accused (source) of sexual abuse.

  1. Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre consecreated, ordained, and appointed numerous pedophiles and people who've covered up sexual abuse. His main collaborators in Gabon, Africa (Fr. Patrick Groche), France, and the US (Fr. Carl Pulvermacher) were pedophiles. The SSPX was founded on the practice of pedophilia and abuse.
  2. Bishop Fellay (source) is complicit in covering up sexual abuse committed by Fr. Frédéric Abbet and Fr. Patrick Groche. He kept priests in contact with children even after they had been accused of abuse.
  3. Bishop Williamson has collaborated and shielded pedophiles for decades. The Resistance has been a haven for pedophile priests.
  4. Pope Pius XII covered up sexual abuse of children (source) & (source) and ordered records be destroyed: "It is now clear that the Secretariat of State, then under Cardinal Pacelli’s direction, had indeed taken immediate action. A folder in the Secretariat’s files from the previous year is labeled “Vienna: Order to burn all archival material concerning cases of immorality of monks and priests.” To date, historians have largely dismissed police investigations of clerical sexual abuse in Nazi Germany as evidence of the National Socialist regime’s anti-Catholicism and homophobia. But there were reasons the Church was so vulnerable to this variety of blackmail."
  5. Fr. Jürgen Wegner, SSPX Former U.S. district superior, covered up sex abuse of Fr. Pierre Duverger.
  6. Fr. Paul Vassal covered up (link) sexual abuse of 8 to 15 boys at Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls in 2016. Fr. Vassal was reassigned because of his cover-up. Both he (link) and Fr. Wegner (link) wrote letters to parents.
  7. Fr. Benoît Wailliez is complicit in covering up sexual abuse committed by Fr. Frédéric Abbet, who was convicted in Brussels in 2017 of child sexual abuse.
  8. Superior General Franz Schmidberger, covered up abuse of Fr. Peignot and kept him in contact with children after abuse was reported. The SSPX stated, "Father Schmidberger did not follow protocol. The procedure was not correct on his part, canonically."
  9. Fr. Régis de Cacqueray, French district superior, did not report Fr. Roisnel's rapes to police.
  10. Fr. Beck of Post Falls covered up sex abuse of Fr. Pierre Duverger.
  11. Fr. Duncan (formerly of Post Falls) covered up sex abuse of Fr. Pierre Duverger.
  12. Fr. Angele covered up (source) sex abuse allegations against Peter Palmeri. Fr. Angele denies the charges.
  13. Bp. Athanasius Schneider has defended the SSPX on sexual abuse, and is participating in the cover up. Bp. Schneider is one of the most famous conservative Catholic clergy.

  • LifeSiteNews has been downplaying (source) the claims made by victim Jassy Jacas, and she's claimed they are helping SSPX to cover up abuse. On her Facebook page Jassy said, "Lifesitenews and in particular Stephen Kokx are abuse protectors and enablers."
  • Anthony Stine of the site Return to Tradition (source) has worked to discredit victims of SSPX sexual abuse.
  • One of the loudest defenders of SSPX abuse cover-up is a man named Jeff Cassman (source), who is all over the internet moralizing on traditional Catholicism. Beware this con artist, who continues to operate a defunct charity and solicit donations - in spite of past felony convictions for swindling family & friends of half a million dollars.
  • The Kleinsmith family has been involved with sexual abuse & cover-up. David Kleinsmith has discouraged victims from exposing SSPX abusers. David's brother Douglas Gerard Kleinsmith was sentenced to 5 years in prison for sexually abusing a boy, and his sister Lori Ann Gerald Kleinsmith has been accused of working with Fr. Novak in seducing wives and grooming children.
  • Lori Payne has discouraged victims from exposing SSPX abusers.
  • Stephen Heiner (True Restoration—a sedevacantist site) wrote Fr. Pulvermacher's obituary for The Angelus on Feb 6, 2008. Heiner removed the page (dead link). It was last captured (link) by archive.org on July 27, 2021. The Angelus has paid for flights for Stephen Heiner, so they have a close connection.
